Baltic Yachts USABALTIC YACHTS AMERICAS

"Baltic Yachts was founded in 1973 on a radical philosophy. With five founding partners, we set out to create boats that incorporated the very latest thinking in yacht design and new technology. In short, we set out on a mission to design and build boats that were Faster, Stronger and Lighter.

We could have simply built copies of yachts that existed at the time, but we felt it was essential to come up with our own philosophy. Faster, Stronger and Lighter were three principles that fired our imaginations and governed everything that we thought and did. These days, few would argue that all three principles are values well worth having in a sailing yacht, but in the early 1970s the last of those three, light displacement, was not really considered a virtue. We are still true to our philosophy, but have placed greater emphasis on Flexibility and Custom than ever before.

We believe that without a company philosophy, it is difficult to find a common direction. The Baltic Yachts' philosophy is used as a basis for decisions and as a tool in our daily work efforts to continue building custom high performance yachts--faster, stronger and lighter..."

Oyster Marine
"Oyster Marine was founded in 1973 and has established itself as an international market leader of world-class cruising yachts. With their distinctive Deck Saloon design, Oyster yachts are recognised throughout the sailing world for quality, comfort and performance.

These days around half of our new construction is for existing owners. This loyalty sends a strong message to new customers thinking of joining what we like to refer to as ‘the Oyster family’.

Today’s Oysters are very different to the yachts we built over 35 years ago, but our core values of strength, seaworthiness and a multitude of practical, seamanlike features remain, testament to the experience we have gained from sailing hundreds of thousands of miles in Oyster yachts..."

Legendary Yachts logo
Return to yachting's Golden Age...when sailing was more than slogging along on the windward rail, watch after watch....when cruising was more than squeezing as many berths as you can into a forty foot boat....when pleasure is being spellbound by the sight of your yacht at anchor as you row ashore in the dingy.
Legendary Yachts
Names such as Herreshoff, Stephens, Alden and Rhodes are but a few of the master designers whose works continue to inspire yachtsmen everywhere. Theirs were designs whose magnificent lines and timeless style have endure to this day. Fortunately, the genius of these masters has been collected and preserved for future generations in the world's great universities and museums.

"In founding Legendary Yachts, Inc. it was my desire to reintroduce a time of greatness. I am proud to be able to say that we have done just that. The classic yachts we build fill a critical void in yachting today by offering a unique, high quality product that is simply not available anywhere else.

Our vision is to bring to reality some of the great designs of our Golden Age of yacht design. Much like a symphony orchestra creates performances of great masterpieces of music, we at Legendary Yachts, Inc. create great performances of yacht design. We feel that the genius of the Master designers is manifest within the designs they produced. Let our orchestra of fine craftsmen create a master performance of your favorite designer"....Stan Bishoprick, President

At Najad we consider ourselves fortunate to combine our passion for sailing and the sea with our work - creating superb yachts without compromise for the sailor who appreciates the best of everything.

Our emphasis has always been on combining performance with safety and security at sea.

Right from initial conception, each Najad yacht has these core principles as the foundation upon which it is built.

The outcome of following this path is that a Najad is a fully-fledged ocean-going yacht that can be handled by two people with ease. The relatively narrow beam combined with surprising hull weight ensures that a Najad can ride into waves easily, maintaining momentum where others may struggle... Learn more

Sabre Yachts logo
Sabre 456 Sabre Yachts has been crafting sail and motor yachts for 35 years and has built over 2,500 hulls to date. Sabre currently builds three sailboat models from 38 to 45 feet in length under the Sabre name; and six powerboat models from 36 to 47 feet in length using the Sabre name. Sabre sail and motor yachts are sold worldwide, through a network of competent, professional dealers who are chosen for their reputation, location, and visibility within a local market and for the quality of their sales and after sales service.

Sabre's manufacturing facilities are located in Raymond, Maine, approximately 25 miles north of Portland, and a little over two hours from Boston. In the 83,750 square foot facility in Raymond, 175 Associates assemble all sail and powerboat models.

In 1994, Sabre acquired North End Marine of Rockland, Maine, at the time, a major builder of marine molds and production fiberglass parts. The company's name was changed to North End Composites in 1996 and today this shop is used for the production of fiberglass hulls and decks for Sabre's larger sail and powerboat models.

The Sabre story began in 1970, when the company's founder, Roger Hewson, set out to build the finest possible 28-foot sailing yacht using production line methods and fiberglass technology. In a small, 4,000 square foot building, with a handful of employees and a vast amount of market research which he had done on the marine industry, he designed and built the first Sabre 28, and introduced it to the market at the 1971 Newport Boat Show in Newport, RI. The boat was a success, and over the next fifteen years, 588 Sabre 28's were built... Learn more
Saga Yachts logo
Saga 409
Originally established in Canada in 1995, Saga opened its doors with its seminal design aimed at serious cruising sailors and especially well tuned into shorthanded cruising couples. The initial Saga 43 by Robert H. Perry was based on lessons learned from the single-handed open class ocean racers of the previous decade. Performance, offshore comfort, safety and ease of handling were the outstanding advantages of the design.

The Saga 43 set a new standard for the “performance cruising” genre. Highlights were its long waterline, moderate displacement, big easy-to handle rig, and a moderate beam (almost narrow by current standards). With the Saga 43’s advent, cruisers were offered a higher level of speed and performance, not achievable by the heavier traditional cruisers of the day. The Saga 43 also offered luxury accommodations, an expansive galley, low maintenance exterior, and an uncommon package of “live-aboard cruising systems” demanded by modern cruisers, not willing to “rough it”. It became an instant winner! ...

Cape George Cutter logo
Cape George Cutter
The hull form of the Cape George Cutter is based on time-tested principles, inspired by the work of the late William Atkin. The long keel / short overhang concept results in a protected rudder and long waterline for high average speeds and self-steering ability. The deep cross-section gives excellent load carrying and an easy motion. Our yachts are noted for their strength and sea kindliness with excellent performance under sail even when heavily laden.

The hulls of our sailboats are of one-piece hand-laid moldings of fiberglass utilizing vinylester-based resins. The deck beams and carlins are of laminated Port Orford Cedar, a premier species for boat building with excellent resistance to decay. The BS 1088 marine grade plywood we use is a combination of Sapele, Jequitiba and Douglas Fir. The deck and cabin structure is heavily sheathed with fiberglass mat and roving combining the low maintenance exterior of fiberglass with the interior beauty of a wooden vessel...

Aloha
The two-part female mold first gets a white or light ivory gel coat above the boot stripe. A contrasting color of your choice is applied to the sheer stripe and boot stripe during this initial gel coating. Below the top of the boot stripe, a vinyl ester primer is applied for blister resistance. After the color gel coating is complete, a black gel coat is applied. Then structural lay-up begins with a skin coat of 1.5 oz mat and 7.5 oz cloth using Hydrex Vinylester Resins to prevent osmosis. This is followed by three layers of 1.5 oz mat and 24 oz roving over the entire hull. An additional layer of 1.5 oz mat and 24 oz roving is applied below the water line and repeated again at the transom, forward at the bow and at the chainplate location. Finally, the entire hull has another layer of 1.5 oz mat and 7.5 oz cloth added. All materials are hand laid and hand squeegeed to ensure a solid lay-up without air bubbles. The result is a hull that is about 3/8" at the sheer, 1/2" at the water line, increasing to over 1" thick near the bottom of the hull. The actual thickness at the bottom of the keel is greater than 1" because we overlap layers at this location. The hull will weigh approximately 2,600 lbs. when finished...
